Why race matters in school admissions
Why race matters in
school admissions
On the article called “Why race matters in school admissions” you can hear a perspective that is very unique on this times. Lately very little people talk about race or ethnicity because this will be considered racism and everyone would object of it.
On it Martha L. Minowthe dean of Harvard Law School talks that they want the best students in their class they think that if there is a better environment everyone will learn more.
As we see on the 8th paragraph ”The holistic evaluation of applicants not only allows us to select the best possible candidates, it also enables us to assemble the best possible entering class.” This sound really closed to ideas for me they cant sat that someone is less than just because their race.
This paragraph has a lot of closed minded ideas and should not be tolerated they cant judge ethnicity to se if you can enter to one of the best schools of the us. In the article it also says that students learn more by peer discussing than regular class and that is why they try to pick better students but I cant understand how someone can really think that people with different races cant have a good conversation
Harvard school and many others need to understand that everyone has the same ability to learn and that the race does not affect the learning ability or the intelligence of a person.

Gilgamesh
(an interesting story)
We just finished reading a book in class called Gilgamesh. A
book that I really enjoyed although it had a complex vocabulary. While reading
this book I thought about the various adventures I have lived with my family
and friends.
I was surprised that there wasn’t a war at the end. Throughout the book I was convinced that a war was going to start. The plot is very similar to Narnia and I thought it was going to turn out to be a war at the end.
I also thought that the adventures were similar to Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. Since the characters were both in quest for something and are rewarded by something spiritual.
I enjoyed reading this book especially the end. Everything went wrong but the character gained knowledge form the tablets. It was somehow difficult for me to understand that the rocks he made where the tablets and that was how he got immortality just for making a book for eternity.
Gilgamesh is a great book for people all ages. I would recommend it to everyone!

THE
ITERESTING STORY OF GILGAMESH
This is a very interesting book because of all of the mythology and stories.
Personally I have never seen 2 giants fight (and then kiss). I connected this
to my life a lot of times but mostly in the same way. First you meet someone,
and with out knowing him you just don't like him you don’t have an explanation
for it but you just don’t. Then you are put in classes together you see him at
lunch and after a while you start liking him. These 2 things are similar
because both judge someone with out knowing him and then you start liking him,
Like judging a book by its cover.
I don't know why when I think of this book Narnia pops
into my head. Like when I think about two big guys fighting I think of a really
weird war and when I think of a really weird war I think of Narnia. I think
there are going to be more unknown animals that fight in this story.
I think this book is not the book that throws the ideas to the reader it
is the kind of book that makes you think before you reed, while you read and
specially after you read. This is why several questions start coming like: what
are the two giants going to do together? Or are the people going to start liking
Gilgamesh after everything he has done?
But my biggest question is what role are the farmers that saw Enkidu
going to have, or if they are even going to have a role in the rest of the
book?

1:This has to be a very
poor town because it does not have the resources to deposit trash the right way.
2:The animals inside and outside the water are going to suffer a very big impact because the trash is going to affect their environment.
3: The people in the picture are experts that are trying to fix the problem because they are like studying the problem.
